Have your site setup for you in under a week!

Having your own site is no longer a difficult and long drawn out operation.  With a little effort you can have your own company website up and running in under a week.  In under a day if you really wish.  And the total cost up front can be between $300 and $500 depending on the amount of traffic you expect.

What you need is 4 elements. 

• The first is simply a host for the website.  A website host is a company that has extensive server farms and storage that you can use to securely run your website from.  There are many options however the one that we suggest is Netfirms.  Netfirms hosting has everything you need and is very affordable!  A good combination.   If you are expecting a limited amount of traffic, say less than 1000 visitors a month and you are not going to have a lot of downloads/videos posted, you can use the basic hosting package which will cost $4.99 per month on a one year hosting package (59.88 $USD).  A one year hosting package to handle larger sites (More files to download/videos to view) with higher traffic will cost approximately $119USD which translates to $9.99USD per month.

• The second is a domain name.  When you sign up for Netfirms business program they will include two domain names at no additional cost.   A search for domain names is available on the Netfirms Small Business Site . Click on the Netfirms logo at the top of the page then type www.”yourcompanyname”.com and see if it is available.  Try different site names or ideas.  If you sign up for a basic account, .com domain names cost $6.99US each and .ca sites cost $9.99 each.

 

• The third is site programming code.  WordPress is a fantastic tool.  It is open source, which basically means it is free.  For more info on open source check out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_source

 

• Lastly you need time.  To take all the puzzle pieces and put them together and make it work.

That’s where we come in.  If you run a small business you are probably busy.  In addition, you may not know as much about computers or technology as you would like to and it is confusing.   Most small companies certainly don’t know much about setting up and managing a website effectively. Lets face it, your building and managing a business, you have many other things to worry about.

What we do is take all this technology and put it together.   We sit with you and go through the wordpress theme options.  Talk to you about any special features you want on your site such as forms, pages, content, blogging, surveys, polls, advertising, and minor customization.  Maybe you have a company logo you want put into the site.  We will take all this information, spend 10 minutes during our first meeting and modify our test site for you to review and see if you like what you see.  When you feel comfortable we get you signed up to hosting at Netfirms. 

We set this all up for you and then show you how it works so you can just skip to the end and manage your site with tools that make it extremely easy for anyone to update and manage the information on your site.

Our fee for this is straightforward and simple.  $200 if you use Netfirms.  $300 if you use another web hosting service.

Keep in mind that we are not selling  WordPress, rather we are endorsing it as an excellent system.  We are also not selling Netfirms, we have just been dealing with them for quite some time now and find that their customer service and systems are excellent!  What we are selling is the service of setting up a wordpress site for you so you don’t have to stress and you can avoid the frustration of trying to build an effective tool that represents your company.   Although the setup is very straightforward for some, and you are encouraged to try it for yourself, you may find that it is just not something that you understand and don’t wish to spend a lot of time working on it.  Some people feel when they get into it the terms like: MySQL Database, PHP, Apache, Plugins, FTP, and more is just too overwhelming.
